In the sacred legends of the ancestral Muiscas, elders tell the story of how the cacique and his people would arrive to this lagoon in ceremonial mood to pay tribute. The cacique, who was covered in gold from head to toes would enter the lagoon in a golden raft and upon reaching the center of this lagoon he would submerge himself into the depth of its emerald-blue waters while flutes, drums and chants accompanied this magical moment.
